A small museum  / one long night · digital art through web design

Pages that are Places.

Most of the web is documents — pages that load fast, work everywhere, and get out of the way. That is the right shape for almost everything. But occasionally the right shape is a place: a scene you sit inside for a minute before you read what is there.

This is a small museum of one long night — seven rooms, seven hours, each one a page that is a place. You arrive by falling. The sky celebrates. A fire reads you. The sea delivers. Your wandering becomes a country, a flower opens briefly, and before you leave, you look up.

how the museum works

Walk down — the night deepens with you, orbit to abyss. Enter any open room and touch everything; nothing in here is fragile. Each room hands you something to take with you — a show, a poem, a sentence, a map, a sky — most of it small enough to live in a link, so you can pass it to someone else. All seven rooms are open. Sound is optional. The lights stay low.

Scroll to descend

The first door is already open. Mind the drop — the floor of this room is ninety thousand feet down.

Going Deeper — a scene descending from space into the deep ocean
№01Going Deeper the first hour — you arrive by falling  ·  2026 · Canvas2D · scroll + interaction Scroll from orbit, through atmosphere, down past the surface into the abyss. Click the asteroids to shatter them; click the kelp and tadpoles will come. A depth gauge keeps count. The piece this whole room is built from. Enter the piece

You climb back out of the deep, hair somehow dry. Down the corridor a stall is glowing — shells, fuses, and one piñata nobody will explain.

Fuse — a drawn fuse line loops across the night sky toward a blooming firework
№02Fuse the second hour — the sky celebrates that you made it  ·  2026 · Canvas2D + WebAudio · a game Pick a shell, draw a line anywhere on the sky — any shape — and let go. The rocket rides your line, shivering harder as the fuse runs out, then blooms: peony, willow, ring, strobe, a red-white-blue glory. The piñata bursts into tacos. Send the drone swarm, run the grand finale — then share your whole show as a single link, and whoever opens it can remix it. Enter the piece

Down a warmer corridor, a door breathes orange at its edges. Something in there has been waiting to read you.

Ember — poem lines hover over a low fire; the ones you linger on glow gold
№03Ember the third hour — the fire gets curious about you  ·  2026 · Canvas2D + WebAudio · a poem A fire that watches you read. The lines you sit with brighten from ash to ember to gold; the ones you pass stay cold. At the bottom, the fire hands back only what you actually read — your cut of the poem, with your tempo — and your reading can travel to someone else inside a link, still warm. Come closer

Further down, the air turns salt. The fourth room has no floor — just sand, and a tide that keeps delivering.

Driftmail — a corked bottle on a moonlit night beach
№04Driftmail the fourth hour — the sea starts delivering  ·  2026 · Canvas2D + WebAudio · a beach A night beach with the moon's real phase in the sky. Write one sentence, cork it, and the tide carries it out — the whole letter lives inside the link you send. Open someone's link and their bottle washes ashore on your beach: uncork it, keep the letter as a pressing, or write one back. No server. No accounts. Just tide. Walk down to the water

Past the beach the floor dries to vellum, and the hall opens into a drafting room. A pencil waits. The map is missing because you haven't walked it yet.

The Cartographer — hand-inked contour lines of an unfinished country on dark vellum
№05The Cartographer the fifth hour — your steps become geography  ·  2026 · Canvas2D + WebAudio · a map A blank vellum with an honest premise: where you wander becomes a country. Terrain develops around your pointer like invisible ink — contour lines, a coastline, cross-hatched depths — until you name what you've drawn and press the map. The link you carry out regrows the same country for whoever opens it. Pick up the pencil

A warmer room now, and a smaller one. It only does one thing, once a day, and it does it for exactly sixty seconds.

The Pressing — a single flower of light mid-bloom in a warm dark room
№06The Pressing the sixth hour — something opens, briefly  ·  2026 · Canvas2D + WebAudio · a flower One flower opens here each day, for sixty seconds, leaning a little toward how you hold it — then it dies, and you keep the pressing: your flower, its invented Latin name, its date. Come back tomorrow and a different one opens. You can gift today's to someone in a link; it blooms once for them, and never again. Let it open

The last room has no walls to speak of. Just the question every museum should end on: which night would you keep?

That Night's Sky — a named constellation and crescent moon over a faint horizon
№07That Night’s Sky the last hour — before you leave, look up  ·  2026 · Canvas2D + WebAudio · a sky Type a night that mattered — a birth, a meeting, a goodbye — and the room hangs that night's sky: the moon in its true phase, a constellation that belongs to that date alone. Name the constellation, keep the poster, or send the whole sky to someone in a link. This is the room people will open for other people. Look up

At the end of the hall there is one more doorway, lit differently. Warmer. The room where the museum gets made.

the other door The Workshop The working side of the bench — the radar and signal instruments, six production sites, open tools. Work shown as itself, no theater.

Dawn soon. Check your pockets.
